Barr Memorial Chapel obituary - Dana S. Shehan, 73, Fort Madison

Dana Sue Shehan, 73 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at her home after a three year battle with ovarian cancer.  She was born April 11, 1951 in Grinnell, Iowa, a daughter of William W. and Miladean (Bennett) Garrett. 
On August 4, 1973 at Albia, Iowa, she married William “Bill” Shehan.  They had four children: Sunshine “Suni”, Summer, Thomas, and Emma.  Dana started working for Dr. D.W. Cunningham during high school, and continued there for five years.  Bill and Dana moved to Fort Madison in 1978.  She  worked for Dr. W.H. Whitley, and was his office manager for 13 years.  She ended her career working for Dr. Charles Holmes for 24 years, retiring in 2012.  She was an avid gardener and loved taking care of her yard and flower gardens.
Dana is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Shehan of Fort Madison; four children: Sunshine “Suni” Shehan (Chris Mihalek) of Fort Madison; Summer (Marty) Nichols of Coal Valley, Illinois; Thomas (Lori) Shehan of Muscatine, Iowa; and Emma Shehan at home; five grandchildren: Avery, Callie, Carrie, Garrett and William; and three siblings: Tom, Kelly, and Scott Garrett.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Terri.
Per her wishes, her body has been cremated.  Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Shehan family.
