County budget story - Correction

General fund levy increase is 67% not 81% as reported

Posted

LEE COUNTY - A story that ran in the Pen City Current on Monday indicated that the general fund levy would increase by 81%. That number is correctly 67%. The new general basic levy of $5.85 was incorrectly listed at $5.35 and the math was done with that incorrect figure.

The general basic levy ($5.85) is projected to generate $9.64 million in tax revenue for the general basic fund, and not $18.6 million as was reported. That figure represents the total taxes levied on property, not just the general basic levy.

Pen City Current apologizes for the error and regrets any inconvenience or confusion it may have caused.
