Hounds 2nd, Lady Hounds 3rd at Keokuk Co-Ed Relays

FORT MADISON – The Fort Madison boys captured second place at the Keokuk Co-Ed Relays held Tuesday in Fort Madison due to the construction underway at Keokuk’s facility.
The Bloodhounds finished with 113.5 points behind Clark County’s 116, while the Lady Hounds finished with 107 points good enough for 3^rd behind Mt. Pleasant with 154 and Keokuk’s 113.
Central Lee finished 7^th in the girls' event with 26 points and 7^th in the boys' with 40.5 points. Keokuk was fourth in the boys' relays with 97 points.
Kenden Bowie continues to surprise in the high jump, winning Tuesday’s event with a leap of 6’2”. Bowie jumped into the Hounds’ high jump rotation a couple weeks ago and quickly qualified for the Drake Relays with a leap of 6’4”.  Nolan Guzman was 2^nd in the High Jump Tuesday with a 5’10” leap. Guzman also captured first in the 800-meter run with a 2:06.87 1.3 seconds ahead of Mt. Pleasant’s Jude Dykstra.
Fort Madison’s Brandon Klein won all three wheelchair events and the Hounds' 4x800 relay and shuttle hurdle relay teams also captured titles at Richmond Stadium Tuesday.
The shuttle hurdle relay team of Adam Sobczak, Gavin Callahan, Kiawante Smith, and Henry Wiseman have also qualified for the Relays this weekend. Their 1:01.36 on April 15 is the 26th best time in the state. They won Tuesday with a 1:02.21.
The girls got their usual sparking performance from Avery Rump in the distance and distance relay events. Rump won the 1500- and 3000-meter runs and anchored the 4x800 team to a first-place finish. Addison Rump anchored the Lady Hounds’ first-place Distance Medley along with Lillian Gelsthorpe, Olivia Buckner and Mara Smith. Smith owned the 800-meter run with a personal best 2:26:08.
Central Lee got a first-place finish from Grant Myhre in the 400-meter dash with a 53.97 to lead the Hawks. The Lady Hawks' Kamryn Cox took 3^rd in the 400 hurdles with a 1:17.40.
