Lady Hawks shut out Canton 2-0

Lake and Boyd each score ninth goal of the year in win

CANTON, Mo. – The Central Lee girls soccer team moved to 4-3 on the year with a 2-0 shutout of Canton, Missouri Tuesday night.
Aubree Boyd and Ellie Lake each had goals for the Lady Hawks. Boyd fired away at the Canton goal all night with 18 shots, 11 on goal, but converted just one.
Layla Gontuman and Charlie Clay each had an assist.
Boyd scored with just 4:30 gone in the first period, while Lake scored with 7:23 left in the game to give the Hawks some breathing room down the stretch. Adi Robinson had four saves in the win.
The win puts Central Lee a game over .500 in SEI Superconference play with a 2-1 record. They take on front-runner Burlington Notre Dame (1-0, 5-4) Tuesday night in Donnellson.
Boyd and Lake each have nine goals on the year making up for 18 of the Hawks' 21 goals on the year.
