PEN CITY CURRENT SPORTS -

FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison Bloodhounds dropped their first game of the young season after holding a slim one-point lead at half-time but fell in the end 48-53 to West Hancock.

Junior Treavor Kokjohn paced the Hounds in the first half with nine points including one three pointer, but the typical long-range prowess of Fort Madison's perimeter duo of Senior CJ Richardson and Junior Kaleb Cresswell were kept quiet. Richardson caught fire in the second half hitting 3-3 pointers and a couple of buckets for 13 second half points, but it wasn't enough to stem off the Titans.

The Hounds were outscored 15-10 in the third quarter and didn't get on the board until only 5 minutes were remaining in the third period. With two minutes left in the quarter the Titans had built their lead to five points 35-30. In the fourth quarter the Hounds were able to close the gap to one point at 38-39 but then went on a four minute scoring drought that did the home team in.

The Hounds were able to put up 10 points in a frantic last two minutes but the Titans were able to hold off the rally and put the game away.

For the Hounds, Richardson led all scorers with 16 points, followed by Kokjohn's 13 and senior Landon Bentley's 9 points. Cresswell had six points in the contest. Elijah Barnes and Austin Rose each added two points.
