FORT MADISON - The Holy Trinity Lady Crusaders put three sophomores in double figures Tuesday night sweeping away a physical West Burlington Falcons team at home 58-38.

Sophomore Taylor Boeding pumped in 15 points, sophomore Emily Box added 14, sophomore Mya Lawlor connected on 13 points and Senior Ali Randolph chipped in with a dozen.

A quick start to the game had the Crusaders out to a 14-5 lead at the end of the first quarter, but a quick press situation from Head Coach Tony Johnson had the Falcons on their heels most of the way through the first quarter. The Falcons didn't get on the board until four minutes had past in the game.

At the 2:41 mark HTC was up 13-5, junior Madison Mohrfeld converted the first end of a one-and-one situation and the game got sloppy for the rest of the quarter as HTC posted a 14-5 lead. The second quarter was much of the same for HTC as the quicker Crusaders were able to keep West Burlington off balance moving the ball. The Falcons didn't reach double figures until a 3 point bucket by Amber Desjardins gave the Falcons 10 points with just three minutes left in the half.

By that time, HTC had pushed the lead to 2o-10. West Burlington made a run at the Crusaders just before halftime and cut the lead to 4 20-16 with just two minutes left in the first half highlighted by Desjardins quick bucket and a 3-pointer in transition, but a mini run to the free throw lines by the Crusaders Lawlor and a bucket by Randolph in the last minute put down the small momentum swing and HTC had a 26-16 lead at the half. Lawlor went to the line three times for 6 free throws in less than 30 seconds at the end of the second half hitting four of the six.

Johnson said free throw shooting is still an issue that needs to be addressed by his team.

"We need to get things cleaned up. We could have put up a lot more on them, but if you look we went 13 of 24 from the free throw line. We gotta clean up those shots," he said.

"We're still very young and we'll get there."

The Falcons were led by Desjardins' 8 points.

HTC outscored WB 17-9 in the third quarter and 14-12 in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

Senior Ali Randolph pulls down a rebound during Tuesday's action against West Burlington. Randolph finished with 12 points.
