FORT MADISON - The schedule for tonight's high school basketball action is highlighted by a showdown in Mt. Pleasant between FMHS and Mt. Pleasant in a makeup of a 12/16 game that was postponed due to weather.

Both teams are undefeated in Southeast Conference action with Mt. Pleasant holding a one-game advantage overall at 8-1, while the Bloodhounds sit at 7-2 with losses coming in back-t0-back games in early December to West Hancock, Ill. and Centerville.

Mt. Pleasant's only loss was in its season opener to Cedar Rapids Xavier. The Panthers' junior Brady Sartorius is leading the conference in scoring at 21 points per game, while Jordan Magnani is averaging just over 11 points per game. The Bloodhounds counter with the outside shooting of junior Kaleb Cresswell and senior CJ Richardson who average 14.3 and 13.6 respectively. The Hounds defense has been giving teams fits all year allowing only 46 points per game, but gave up 61 to Fairfield on Friday. The Hounds were leading the state in points allowed prior to last week in Class 3A.

Mt. Pleasant is equally as stingy allowing only 45.2 points per game. Tip off is 4:45 with a 9th grade game, then junior varsity and the varsity game to follow.

The Bloodhound girls host Mt. Pleasant tonight with jayvee action starting at 6:15 p.m. The Lady Hounds come into the game 3-7 after a loss to cross-town Holy Trinity Catholic Saturday afternoon. Mt. Pleasant is 5-5 and averaging just under 50 points per game. FMHS is at 41 points per game.

The Lady Panthers are led by Sarah Moffett at 12 points per game, while the Hounds are led by Amber Dilsaver at 11 points per game and Mercedes Trimble, who's battling a lower back ailment, is just under 9 points per game.

In class 1A, Holy Trinity will take both the boys and girls varsity squads to Van Buren. The Lady Crusaders are 5-6 and averaging 50.4 points per game. Van Buren sports a 7-3 record, but only puts up 43 points per game so a defensive battle could be on the table.

Ali Randolph and Taylor Boeding lead HTC at 11.9 and 11.7 points per game. Boeding has been struggling from the field in the past two games, but did connect on a 3-pointer in the waning minutes of Saturday's game against FMHS.

Van Buren is paced by a couple of freshmen standouts in Taryn Scheuermann and Madison Bartholomew scoring at 12.1 and 11.7 points per game. Hannah Hudson is also averaging double figures at 10.8 per game.

The HTC boys squad is looking to break out of a three-game losing skid and 5 of the last 7. Connor Conrad and Cory Hopper lead the Crusaders and the Southeast Iowa Superconference in scoring at 18.3 and 17.7 points per game. Jaeden Gerig leads Van Buren at 11.2 points per game. The Crusaders are averaging 58 points per game to Van Buren's 42 points per game. The boys varsity follows the girls varsity and junior varsity boys with the first game starting at 4:30 p.m.
