QUINCY - The Fort Madison boys basketball team continues to struggle with games across statelines as Pittsfield, Ill., handed the Bloodhounds their fourth loss in four attempts playing outside of Iowa, 59-47.

The Bloodhounds had a slim two-point advantage after the first quarter with junior Kaleb Cresswell connecting on bucket sandwiched by two senior CJ Richardson 3-pointers.

The Saukees came flying back in the second period with four 3-pointers of their own enroute to a 14-point second quarter output. Nick Reel had two of the 3-pointers. John Moore and Austin Ator had the others, while FM only managed five on a 3 by Cresswell and bucket from Treavor Kokjohn.

The 20-13 half-time lead was manageable, and the Hounds outscored Pittsfield 19-17 in the third period for just a five-point deficit going into the final period. But Pittsfield then found themselves at the free-throw line 15 times in the final period, converting on 12 to outscore the Hounds 22-15 and seal the game.

Logan Rashid got hot for Fort Madison connecting on two 3-pointers and converting on another bucket to lead the Hounds with 8 points in the final period. Richardson added five in catch-up mode, but the Hounds couldn't keep up with the Saukee's scoring.

Richardson led the Hounds with 15 points, followed by Kokjohn with 13, Rashid with 11 and Cresswell had eight, well below his season average of about 15 points per game. Reel led all scorers with 17 points.

Fort Madison falls to 11-7 on the year, Pittsfield was 19-2 coming into the contest. The Hounds host Davis County on Tuesday night at the Hound Dome then travel to Fairfield on Friday to wrap up the conference season. The regular sends ends with a home tilt against Illini West on the following Tuesday.
