Joann Gunn, 82 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Belton, Texas. She was born April 29, 1934 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Willard “Bus” and Lucinda Phillips. On June 16, 1957, she married Dr. Ronald Charles Gunn in Fort Madison. They had two children, Scott and Sherri.

After Joann raised her children she went to work with her husband, Dr. Ronald Gunn, DDS at his dental office. Later she volunteered at the Community of Christ Historic Site Center in Nauvoo, Illinois. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church. She enjoyed reading and her dog, Scruffy.

She is survived by her son, Scott Gunn (wife Sherilyn Pearce), of Cincinnati, Ohio; her daughter, Sherri (husband Gerald) Tripp, of Belton, Texas; and one granddaughter, Courtney (husband Max) Stuck, of St. Joseph, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, with Elder Lachlin Mackay officiating. A memorial has been established for the Community of Christ Historical Sites Foundation and Outreach International. Contributions may be left at the graveside service or the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. Barr Memorial Chapel is in charge of the local arrangements.
