WEVER – The body that was discovered at Indian Path Park off Highway 61 Saturday morning around 11 a.m. has been identified by a family member as James Merlin Nelson, 42, formerly of Fairfield.

According to Nelson's sister, Gina Ollom of Fairfield, Nelson had been working construction at the Iowa Fertilizer Company in Wever, but she was unaware of his current occupation. According to Ollom, Nelson had a girlfriend in the Burlington area and was staying with her.

Ollom said she has not been told the cause of death. Ollom was notified of her brother's death at 6 p.m. Saturday by the State Department of Criminal Investigations. "We still haven't been told what the cause of death is and that's very frustrating," said Ollom.

The state DCI is leading the investigation with help from the Lee County Sheriff's Department and Iowa State Patrol.
