King-Lynk Obituary – Mary M. Krogmeier, 96, Fort Madison

Mary M. Krogmeier 96, of Ft. Madison passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 2:55 PM at Park Place Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant.

She was born on August 20, 1920 in rural Salem, IA to Leo J. and Theresa Hiebing Heuvelmann.  On February 10, 1944 she married Bernard Krogmeier and he passed away on March 5, 2011.  Mary was a homemaker and also worked for several years in the kitchen at Ft. Madison High School and had also worked at Midwest Childcare.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the CLA, the Altar & Rosary Society and Farm Bureau Women’s Club of Lee Co.  She enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, reading, sewing and flower gardening.  Mary loved visiting with her friends and family.

Survivors include a son, Ray (Carleen) Krogmeier of West Point; two daughters, Joyce (Dannie) Francis of Wever and Jean (Larry) Kruse of Houghton; a daughter in law, LaVonne Krogmeier of Ft. Madison; a sister-in-law, Ethel Heuvelmann of Burlington; eleven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Leroy; one brother, Joseph; a sister, Loretta; twin brothers in infancy and a step grandson, Trent.

Friends may call after 2 PM on Friday, February 17, 2017 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM.  A rosary will be held at 4:30 PM and a wake service will be held at 7 PM both on Friday at the funeral home.  The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Joseph Phung officiating.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
