HTC wins 2 of 3 at FMHS soccer invite

FORT MADISON - Nick Pothitakis scored four goals on the day as Holy Trinity downed Fort Madison and Central Lee before falling to Burlington Notre Dame in a shootout at the FMHS Invitational Saturday at the Baxter Sports Complex.

Bailey Merschman held FMHS scoreless in the first game that HTC won 2-0. He had nine saves in the game. Pothitakis scored both goals for HTC. In the second game, another 2-0 win over Central Lee, Pothitakis scored one goal and Adam Rauenbuehler had the other score. Pothitakis and Quinn Abolt each had an assist in the game and Justin Rempe had nine saves.

In the Championship game against Notre Dame, Rauenbuehler scored both HTC goals, but the Crusaders could only convert one penalty kick in the shootout, by Pothitakis. Notre Dame won all three games on the day in shootout fashion.

FMHS information wasn't available on Saturday night.
