FMHS runners finish 2nd at Keokuk

KEOKUK – The Fort Madison boys track team recorded its highest finish of the year, taking 2nd place at the windy Keokuk Relays Thursday night.

Aaron Steffensmeier pulled his first first-place finish Monday in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.86.

Elijah Barnes threw a personal best for the third straight week heaving the shot 45-10 good enough for second place. Caleb Gehle took first in the wheel chair shot with a throw of 16-03.

The 4×400-meter relay team of Jared Kester, Quentin Schneider, Aaron Steffensmeier and Schwiess finished 2nd for the Hounds with a time of 4:01.23.

The 4×200-meter relay team of Kester, Dayne Cordray, Joseph Grabowski, and Matthew Meierotto also took a second place for the Hounds with a time of 1:51.16.

Schweiss  took second place in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:10.99.

“It was an extremely windy evening, but the guys raced well,” said Head Coach Erin Benner. “Barnes threw another PR.  He is doing better and better each week.”

400-meter run –  Schneider 57.19 (4th), Schweiss 63.43, JV-Young 1:06.92 (4th)
