Fort Madison boys 2nd at Hawk Relays

DONNELLSON - The Fort Madison boys track team raced to five first-place finishes to take 2nd place overall at the Hawk Relays on Friday in boys high school track action.

The event was rescheduled Friday from heavy rains last week.

Aaron Steffensmeier took first place in the 1600 meter run and the 800-meter run to pace the Hounds. Caleb Gehle took first place in the 100-meter and 200-meter wheelchair.

Matt Hellige took first place in the 3200 meter run and anchored the 4x800 relay team that also took first.

Elijah Barnes tossed a second place finish in the shotput with a 43-11.75 inch throw. Dayne Cordray finished 2nd in the 3200 meter run and Hellige took second in the 1600-meter run. The 4x400-meter relay team of Quentin Schneider, Jared Kester, Aaron Steffensmeier and Zander Schweiss took second. No official time was available.

4x800 Relay – Steffensmeier Kester Grabowski Hellige 9:36.68 (1st)

100 – Gully 11.76 (5th), Redd 12.35 (6th), WC - Gehle 37.96 (1st)

1600 Med Relay – Rashid Cordray Grabowski Hellige 4:19.02 (4th)

400 – Schneider 56.8 (3rd), Schweiss 62.86 (5th)

4x200 Relay – Kester Grabowski Cordray Meierotto 1:47.85 (3rd)

800 – Steffensmeier 2:14.50 (1st), Meierotto 2:31.40 (4th)
