BURLINGTON - Only shootin' stars break the mold, and The Tri-State Rodeo always bring their share of stars.

The TSR committee announced their national entertainment lineup on Saturday at the Boogaloo Cafe in Burlington. In addition to the wildly popular CINCH Shootout on Wednesday, this year's national entertainment is set to include rock band Smash Mouth and national country recording stars Jon Pardi and Cody Johnson.

The 70th annual rodeo will be held September 6-9 and showcases exciting rodeo acts as well as professional musical entertainment. And once again this year, new and exciting things are planned for audiences of all ages.

Wednesday night will once again feature the CINCH Shootout featuring the top rodeo cowboys in the nation. This invitation only event will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will bring elite athletes, including many World Champions, to the Tri-State Rodeo in Fort Madison to compete for over $120,000 in prize money. This event is sponsored by CINCH Jeans.

The PRCA action will start on Thursday with rodeo performances beginning at 7 p.m. Once again this year a national music act will follow the rodeo competition. Up-and-coming country music artist, Cody Johnson will take the stage in the arena. A former bull rider himself, Johnson knows how to thrill the crowd with his highly charged music.

Friday evening’s rodeo performance begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by Smash Mouth. Twenty years after their award winning Fush Yu Mang (FYM) album debuted, Smash Mouth, who climbed the charts with "All-Star", will rock the stage at the Tri-State Rodeo They are still as vibrant and vital as ever, bringing energy and fun to Friday night’s event.

Saturday night’s entertainment also gets underway at 7:30 p.m. with the PRCA rodeo performers taking center stage. They will be followed by the Academy of

Country Music New Male Vocalist of the Year for 2017, Jon Pardi. His one-of-a-kind voice brings a positive edge to even the toughest emotional scenarios. His newest album, California Sunrise features “Head Over Boots”, “She Ain’t It” and #1 Hit, “Dirt on My Boots”. Pardi is sure to pack the arena.

The Rough Riders Band will also play in the Coors Party Pavilion each night of the Tri-State Rodeo.

“The Tri-State Rodeo Operating Committee invites you to come experience the 2017 Tri-State Rodeo, said Josh Denning, General Chair of the Tri-State Rodeo.

"If you have never been or it has been a couple of years since you attended this four-day event, this will be a great year to join us. We are proud to welcome back the CINCH Shootout which brings the best cowboys in the country to the Tri-State Rodeo. The CINCH Shootout sets the stage for the rest of the weekend with exciting cowboy competition. We kept the added attraction of a national music act on Thursday night with Cody Johnson and are certain Friday night’s entertainment, Smash Mouth will add a level of fun and nostalgia to the event. And of course Jon Pardi will not disappoint our country music fans. Every night of the Tri-State Rodeo will have something for audiences of all ages to enjoy, so we hope to see you there."

The committee is also pleased to welcome back clown and barrel man, Justin Rumford. Voted PRCA’s Clown of the Year for the fourth time in 2015, Rumford is sure to entertain the crowd while keeping the cowboys safe.

Ready for Rodeo events will take place throughout the week leading up to the rodeo for participants of all ages starting on Saturday, September 2nd with the Special Kids Rodeo.

The Grand Rodeo Parade is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9th commencing at 9:30 a.m. and will travel down Avenue G. The Tri-State Rodeo is a community event that involves many hours of manpower by community members and groups with all proceeds being put back into the community.
