Health department holding informational sessions on new building proposal

LEE COUNTY – The public is invited to attend informational sessions about the new building proposed for Lee County Health Department on:

The public is invited to come learn about the proposed new building that would be located on county owned property adjacent to the Lee County Sheriff office. The proposed building would be 9,891 square feet on the main level and include a 2500 square foot basement for storage for a total of 12,391 square feet. It would serve as the center for the Health Department to provide essential services to the public.

LCHD provides services throughout the lifespan. Maternal and Child Health and HOPES services start prenatally. Homecare, senior health, and hospice services are provided to all ages, including seniors, up to the end of life. Environmental services include inspections of food establishments, motels/hotels, septic systems, swimming pools, tattoo parlors, and tanning beds; radon test kits; and funds to homeowners for water well plugging. Communicable disease follow up is completed on reportable illnesses. Since LCHD moved into its current location in 1989, it has added additional staff and the following programs and services: Hospice Program; Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program; Senior Health; Maternal, Child & Adolescent Health services; I-SMILE/Oral health care for children and pregnant women; HOPES/MIECHV home visiting services; Child Care Nurse Consultant services; First Five Healthy Mental Development program; I-SMILE SILVER; Wellness Program; and Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response.
