Lee Grafton Young, 84, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island, IL. He was born on October 24, 1932 in Oklahoma City, OK to Aubrey & Marjorie Lovelace Young. He married Vera G. Davis on December 19, 1953 in Westfield, IN. He was a project engineer for Union Electric and served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Leonard Wood during the Korean War. He was active at the First Baptist Church in his early years and later at Calvary Assembly of God. He was much sought after to sing for events at church and around Fort Madison. He enjoyed gardening, playing the accordion and writing letters to the editor in the Fort Madison Daily Democrat.
Lee is survived by: his wife: Vera Young of Fort Madison, IA; 1-daughter: Annette (Roger) Wright of Fayetteville, TN; 1-son: Duane (Linda) Young of Port St. Lucie, FL; 5-grandchildren; 11-great grandchildren; 1-great great granddaughter and 1-sister: Ethel (Myrne) Riley of Bountiful, UT. He was preceded in death by: his parents, 1-brother: Jerry Young & 1-sister: Audrey Spitznagel.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. all on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Fort Madison with his grandson, Pastor Aaron Wright officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Lee’s memory. Burial will be held in Westfield, Indiana.
