FORT MADISON - Fort Madison Main Street hosts Mayhem on the Mississippi a 5K obstacle course run on May 13th.

The run will take place in Rodeo Park, a new venue for this event. With the slogan, “First Compete, Then go Eat,” this run is far from typical. Runners will conquer an inflatable obstacle course and jump though tires, and slide to a finish among other great obstacles.

The obstacles are meant to be fun rather than challenging, all are optional. All ages are welcome, registration ranging from 10 to 64 years old. The race begins at 10 a.m.

After finishing the race you can celebrate by refueling at the Annual Main Street BBQ at Faeth’s Cigar Store, 832 Avenue G. At the BBQ you can enjoy a cold one while listening to music and munching on the finest BBQ around. The Main Street BBQ starts at noon. Make a day of it by visiting downtown shops during The Quilt Walk while attending some of the great events happening that afternoon and evening.

Thank you to our Sprinter Sponsors Climax Molybdenum and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company as well as our Jogger Sponsors Edward Jones: Larry Kelch, Anytime Fitness, Pinnacle Foods, and Fareway.

Registration for the race is $25 and includes refreshments. To register for the race online visit getmeregistered.com and search for Mayhem on the Mississippi. Paper forms can also be picked up at Fort Madison YMCA, Anytime Fitness, Fit 24/7, Rev Fitness, Running Wild in Burlington, and The Fort Madison Partners Office.

Participants can sign up the day of the race, but t-shirts will not be guaranteed as early registration ended April 21st. Same day registration will be from 8:30 – 9:30 AM, Saturday, May 13th at the Old Lions Shelter House at Rodeo Park.
