John Raymond Conlee, 69 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 1:30 pm Monday, May 1, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. He was born in rural Lee County, Iowa on February 27, 1948, a son of Charles P. and Irene E. (Starr) Conlee.

John graduated from Fort Madison High School in 1967 and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church for 40 years. He was retired from Sheaffer Pen Company where he worked for 35 years. He was an avid baseball fan who traveled to St. Louis often to watch the Cardinals.

John will always be remembered as a kind caring person who loved his family. We will miss his smiling face and generous personality.

He is survived by three sisters: Jean Shelledy, Joyce (David) Baggerly, and Debbie (John) Johnson, all of Houston, Texas; one brother, David (Sunny) Conlee, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. A funeral service will follow and begin at 11:00 am Friday, May 5, 2017 at the funeral home, with Pastors Betty Tripp and Phyllis Carle officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Madison. A memorial has been established for the Community of Christ Church, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
