FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison Bloodhounds scored first on a cold, wet night at Baxter Sports Complex, but Fairfield scored last and it was good enough for a 2-1 win in Monday high school boys soccer action.

Carson Donaldson had a big night with some gutsy saves mixed in with 13 on the night in helping keep the game close. The tie breaking score from Fairfield rolled over the line at the net after Donaldson had blocked a hard strike. The ball bounced to Donaldsons' right and creeped over the line as Donaldson slammed his gloved hands onto the grass in frustration.

Chase Rogers got the Hounds on the board first with 7:30 gone in the half. Rogers took a middle pass from AJ Nolting coming down on left side of the field on a breakaway for Hounds who had been playing defense most of the first seven minutes. Nolting slid a pass through two Fairfield defenders to Rogers who was manning the middle of the field on the break. Rogers dribbled to his left and shot through the left side of the goal for a the 1-0 lead.

Fairfield wasted no time evening up the score on the next trip down the field and the 1-1 score held until the intermission. The Trojans scored at the same point in the second half to take the lead and eventual winning score 2-1.

The Hounds fall to 3-8 overall and are still winless in the Southeast Conference at 0-6. They travel to Mt. Pleasant on Thursday.

The Fort Madison junior varsity squad tied Fairfield 2-2 with Kelly Russel and Miguel Trejo each scoring unassisted goals in the contest. Javier Trejo had two saves in the match.
