Deborah J. Burghoffer, 68, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on March 10, 1949 in Burlington, IA to Charles E. & Mary C. Cormick Bertlshofer. She married Aaron Burghoffer on July 29, 1978 in Fort Madison, IA. She worked at the DuPont Corporation for 27 years. After retirement, she worked at RES Care, Midwest Daycare and enjoyed her grandchildren’s activities.
Deb is survived by: her husband: Aaron Burghoffer of Fort Madison, IA; 2-daughters: Kelsey (Robert) Steffener of Burlington, IA & Lyndsey (Curtis) Richardson of Fort Madison, IA; 1-son: Ean (Christi) Burghoffer of Burlington, IA; 12-grandchildren: Ali Burghoffer, C.J. Richardson, Isaiah Richardson, Carter Richardson, Jace Richardson, Isabelle Steffener, Jackson Steffener, Veronica Steffener, Brendon Hale, Mason Burghoffer, Hudson Burghoffer & baby to be; 2-brothers: Ed Bertlshofer of Fort Madison, IA & Chuck Bertlshofer of Donnellson, IA; 3-sisters: Carol Faeth of Eldridge, IA, Joan Reid of Gladstone, IL & Judy Hunsaker of Burlington, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Per her wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Iowa Anatomy Department. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial has been established for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
