Barbara Duder named guest speaker at Old Fort Genealogical Society meeting

Civil War reenactor Barbara Duder will be the guest speaker at the Old Fort Genealogical Society on Monday, May 22 at 7 pm at the Fort Madison Public Library. Duder's two-part presentation "No Man's Land - Between the Lines: How the American Civil War shaped the American NCO and reshaped the role of women" focuses on the role of the Hospital Steward and women soldiers who disguised themselves as men to fight on the battlefield.

Duder is a living historian from Washington, Iowa, and a reenactor with the D Co. 3rd Cavalry Reenactors, Inc. Duder began researching and speaking on the role of women in the Civil War while she was in the United States Army.
