James William “Bill” Lamborn, 75, of Donnellson, passed away at 4:13 P.M. Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

Born August 19, 1941 in Farmington, Iowa the son of Samuel and Esther Troutman Lamborn. On September 17, 1965 at Keokuk, Iowa he married Alice M. Finton. She preceded him in death on February 26, 2000. On August 11, 2001, he married Janey Therme Fuchs.

Survivors include his wife Janey of Donnellson. Three sons: Chad (Vickie) Lamborn of Donnellson, Ty Lamborn of Keosauqua, and Eric Lamborn of Donnellson, step-daughter Tracy (Gary) Frahm of Miles, Iowa, step-son Brian (Jamel) Fuchs of Urbandale, Iowa. Four grandchildren: Kayla, Jeremy, Nicole, and Ali, five step grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters: Nancy (Rich) Lowe of Independence, Missouri, Chris (Kent) Anderson of Mt. Pleasant, and Jan (Todd) Loges of Farmington. One brother-in-law Mike Jacobsmeier of Mt. Pleasant. Two aunts: Wanda Adams and Mary Davis and Mother-in-law Melba Steinhilber and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alice and one sister Linda Jacobsmeier.

Bill was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington, was a member and Past Commander of the Farmington American Legion Post #231. He served as District Legion Vice Commander. He was a member of the Houghton Knights of Columbus Council #3905. He served in the United States Army.

Bill graduated from Farmington High School in 1959 and the Gale Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In his early years, he worked with his father in construction. He later owned and operated Home Town Lumber in Donnellson and the Houghton Ready Mix Concrete. Bill worked for Ideal Ready Mix until his retirement, he continued working part-time as an estimator for Jones Contracting up until the time of his death. He loved traveling, especially cruising to Alaska and the Panama Canal, visiting his sister and brother-in-law in Florida each Winter and driving his step granddaughter to New York City. He enjoyed going to Hawkeye Football Games and hosting picnics for family and friends each summer at the farm.

Friends may call after noon on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson where the family will meet with friends from 4-7:00 P.M. that evening. There will be a Christian Wake Service Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington with Father Dennis Hoffman as Celebrant.

Burial will be in the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington with full military rites by the Farmington American Legion Post #231.

Memorials may be made to the Donnellson Fire and Rescue, Farmington Fire Department and the Farmington EMT’s.
