MT. PLEASANT - Fort Madison had trouble getting much going in Thursday's double header at Mt. Pleasant as the Panthers chased the Hounds with wins of 11-1 and 15-0.

The Hounds, sporting some very young pitching, got on the board in the first inning of the first game when Logan Allen came around to score, but failed to plate anyone else on the night. The first game was a five inning affair due to the 10-run rule and the 2nd game went into the fifth, again on the 10-run rule.

Sophomore Jordyn Gerdes took the loss in the first game going 2 1/3 innings, giving up eight runs, five earned on six hits, while striking out four and walking two. Freshman Parker Denning came in in relief and pitched 1 2/3 innings. Denning gave up three runs, all earned, while walking four with no strikeouts.

Allen, Gerdes, Lennon Barker, and Brandon Reichelt all had singles for the Hounds. The Panthers were led by Zac Elbing who went 3 for 3 with a double and four RBIs.

In the second game, the Hounds were held to three hits, all singles, from Allen, Dayne Cordray, and Aaron Steffensmeier.

Reichelt, just a freshman, took the loss for the Hounds going two innings, giving up eight runs, six earned, on four hits while walking seven. Reichelt had a scary moment in the second inning when a comeback line drive almost caught him in the head. Reichelt got a glove on the ball and it trickled behind the mound for a hit and run scored. Reichelt stayed in the game before giving way to junior Tyler O'Tool who gave up the other seven runs, all earned, in 1/3 of an inning.

FMHS falls to 0-6 on the season and hosts Fairfield in a double header on Monday night.
