Comeback falls short as HTC falls to WMU

WINFIELD - Holy Trinity Catholic gave up three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning in a loss to Winfield-Mt. Union on Tuesday on the road in high school baseball action.

The Crusaders were down 4-1 after two innings, but scored one in the third inning and two in fourth to tie the game at 4-4 before allowing the Wolves take the lead in the bottom half.

Nathan Bredemeyer took the loss for HTC going 3 2/3 innings giving up seven runs, only three of which were earned. Jason Thurman came in and shut the door for HTC going 2 1/3 innings without allowing a run, but not before the damage had been done.

At the plate for the 2-5 Crusaders, Quentin Schneider went 2 for 3 with a couple of stolen bases, and Aiden Alfred was 2 for 2 with a walk. Thurman, Vasin Thurman and Kyle Bredemeyer all had hits for HTC.

The Crusaders host Wapello Thursday night in junior varsity/varsity set beginning at 5:30 p.m. at South Park in West Point.
