HTC downs Central Lee 15-14

WEST POINT - Holy Trinity's 7th grade softball team knocked off Central Lee Tuesday in girls junior high action.

Mary Hellige was the winning pitcher going six innings and striking out three. Mary also had a walk, triple and and a game-tying RBI.

Kayla Box had a single and two runs scored including the game winning run on a play at the plate.

Raquel Schneider had two singles and a run scored. Anna Sobczak had a walk and a single while Brooke Mueller Walked singled and scored twice.

Laura Mehmert singled, walked and scored twice and Jenne DiPrima walked twice and scored twice, while Kelli Meierotto was walked, got hit by pitch and scored a run.

Rachel Menke singled twice, was hit by pitch, scored twice and had an RBI and Alesha Hellman walked, singled, scored twice. Alexa Dingman singled twice, walked, and scored a run for HTC.

The win comes on the heels of a loss to Danville Monday night in West Point.

The two teams worked to a 7-7 tie going into the sixth and final inning when Danville put up a 5-spot on the Crusaders who couldn't answer in the bottom half of the inning.

The upstart softball program is now 4-2 on the season.

Hellige suffered the loss for HTC going six innings and fanning six. She also had a walk and scored a run.

Sobczak singled and scored a run and Schneider had a single, walk and two runs scored to lead the Crusaders at the plate. Box walked and scored two runs, while Mueller singled and scored a run. Mehmert reached on a walk and DiPrima had a single. Meierotto and Menke each walked to round out the offense for HTC.
