FMAAA features photographers in June

Ft. Madison Area Arts Association always welcomes summer with rotation of new lens crafters to the main stage for a visual glimpse from their perspective. Lindsey Pieper and Molly Dillon of Ft. Madison, as well as Don Weiss of Burlington, have answered the call to showcase their talents with the Tri-States. A reception for the trio occurs June 9^th from 5-7pm and is always free and open to the public---a great way to start your weekend! Connections Bank&Insurance is the sponsor for the exhibition. FMAAA will open at 9am entire month of June! Viewing available Tuesday-Saturday from 9am-5pm. Lunch-ala-Art will feature some of the photographers talking about their work on June 30^th at noon. Call FMAAA gallery at 372-3996 to get a slot for the lunching and learning.

Lindsey Pieper is young in age but excited and determined to increase her knowledge of the photography field. Shutter-bugging began for her when her dad gave her an old Powershot S5 in 2008. She began documenting the flood. FMAAA full well knows the Flood of 2008 with many tough shots garnered in documentation of the evacuation of BNSF depot. Lindsey enjoys forms and nature for subject matter. She is always evolving and changing. Her youthful enthusiasm should propel her where she wants to go in the medium.

Molly Dillon is originally from Cresco, Iowa. She received an art scholarship to study at the University of Northern Iowa, where she graduated with a B.A. in Fine Arts with an emphasis in photography. After working several jobs in the graphic arts field, she decided to focus on photography once again. Combining skills from her former jobs in graphic design, she creates images in her photography which often resemble double exposures with painting-like qualities. Currently, Molly resides in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Don Weiss is a recent transplant to the Southeastern Iowa area, and specializes primarily in wildflower photography. Mr. Weiss is in the second year of a multi-year project of photographing wildflowers at Geode State Park where he has identified and photographed over 170 different species. Don shoots with a Nikon and believes that how you view life depends on the lens you have on your camera. During the week, Don is the Executive Director of the Center for Business at Southeastern Community College. Don holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration. He and his wife, Lori, live in Burlington.
