Karen Lee Wilson, 78 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 8:44 pm Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa. She was born March 1, 1939 at Iowa City, Iowa, a daughter of Floyd and Hazel (Smith) Ballard. On May 19, 1957, she married Gerald A. Wilson Sr at the First Baptist Church in Fort Madison. They just celebrated 60 years of marriage.

She was a homemaker. She liked to knit, crochet, sew, and do canning. She and Gerald enjoyed selling at Flea Markets. She was a Chicago Cubs fan! Most of all she loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald A. Wilson Sr, of Fort Madison; three sons: Gerald A. Wilson Jr and Michael R Wilson, both of Fort Madison; and Raymond Wilson Jr, of Keokuk, Iowa; three daughters: Dollie J. (Gregory) Horn, of Fremont, Iowa; Shirley J. (Ronald) McMurray, of Franklin, Iowa; and Rebecca S. Wilson, of Fort Madison; two brothers, Ronald (Louise) Ballard and Larry (Jan) Ballard, both of Fort Madison; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James and David.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. Funeral services follow and will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison with Pastor Cheryl Simpson officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
