Dixieanna Henderson, 85 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 10:35 am Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Klein Center, West Burlington, Iowa. She was born November 15, 1931 at Keokuk, Iowa, a daughter of William and Cleota Ann (Leafers) Martindale. She married Paul Henderson Sr., they later divorced.
She was a bartender for almost 25 years. She then worked at Easter Foods and Econo Foods for 18 years. She enjoyed painting, drawing, writing poetry, embroidery, and the outdoors. She loved Christmas and always made it special for each of her family.
She is survived by one son, Paul Henderson Jr., of Fort Madison, Iowa; four daughters: Holly Weatherford, of Fort Madison, Iowa; Tracy VanMeter, of Grand Prairie, Texas; Gina Henderson, of Fort Madison, Iowa; Merlena Henderson, of Fort Madison, Iowa; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and the Henderson family. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons: Lonny Henderson and Vincent Karron; two brothers, Maurice Peterson and Jr. Peterson; one sister, Betty Derrickson; and three grandchildren: Misti Redden, Dusty Weatherford, and Danielle Weatherford.
Per her wishes, her body has been cremated. Her family will greet friends from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. A Memorial services will follow and begin at 12:00 pm Friday, July 7. 2017 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Don Culp officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
