Jean A. Schneider, 86, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 3:25 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at The Madison.
She was born on April 27, 1931 in Lewis County, MO to Hugh & Naomi Cain LaVelle. She married Robert C. Schneider on October 18, 1952 in Fort Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1992. She was a former member of the Fort Madison Eagle’s Club and enjoyed watching the Tri-State Rodeo Parade from the porch of her home and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jean is survived by: 1-daughter: Kathy (Alan) Bohnenkamp of Fort Madison, IA; 3-sons: Bill (Margaret) Schneider of Nauvoo, IL, John (Theresa) Schneider of Denmark, IA & David (Jonna) Schneider of Fort Madison, IA; 9-grandchildren: Carol (Troy) Ross of West Point, IA, Kim (Shaun) Shacklett of Fort Madison, IA, Michael (Melissa) Schneider of Fort Madison, IA, Marcus (Katie) Schneider of North Liberty, IA, Kelly Schneider of Hills, IA, Lucas (Becky) Bohnenkamp of Marion, IA, Abby (Dan) Henderson of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Sara (David) Helenthal, of Keokuk, IA & Daniel (Bridget) Schneider of Johnston, IA; 13-great grandchildren: Nathaniel Harter, Emily Ross, Megan & Ryan Shacklett, Elgin & Joey Bohnenkamp, Brantley & Caiden Henderson, Landon, Lauren & Preston Schneider, David, Mandy, Kylie & Zoey Helenthal; 3-sisters: Stella (Jack) Smith of St. Peters, MO, Dorothy Menge of Jacksonville, IL & Alice (Everett) Gabel of Donnellson, IA and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, 2-brothers: Tommy & Jerry LaVelle.
Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 with the family to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will be held in Oakland Cemetery.
