Lady Hounds drop two to Keokuk

FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison Bloodhounds softball team dropped both games of a double header on Monday against Keokuk.

The Hounds opened district play Thursday against Keokuk on the road.

The Hounds fell 9-1 in the first game and 15-5 in a second game that saw a rare start for junior Teryn Parsons.

Parsons went the distance giving up all 15 runs, 14 earned, while allowing 12 hits, and walking four. Senior Chayse Lowney led FM at the plate going 3-of-4 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.

Sadie Smithburg, Kamryn Bailey, Olivia Williams, and Jada Lamm all had singles for the Hounds in the second game. Lexi Schmidt and Bailey each had RBIs for the Hounds.

Keokuk sophomore catcher Jalynn Wood went 4-of-5 in the game with two doubles, a home run, and four RBIs to lead the Chiefs. MacKenzie Pezley also had four RBIs for Keokuk.

In the first game, Lowney had a single and scored the lone run for the Hounds. Bailey had a triple, and Williams had a single for the only hits for FMHS. Lowney went all seven innings giving up nine runs, all earned, on 12 hits. Abby Arrowood went 3-of-4 with two RBIs for Keokuk.

The Hounds are 10-26 and have dropped all four games against Keokuk so far this year.
