FORT MADISON - Fort Madison Community Hospital recognized two outstanding employees for the months of April and May.

The hospital recognized Katie Rung as their April Employee of the Month.

Rung works as a nurse in the FMCH Inpatient & Emergency Departments. She has been with FMCH for nine years.

Rung was recognized with this nomination:

This employee is often recognized during rounding by her peers and throughout nursing leadership. She exemplifies the Standards of Behavior and her Commitment to Co-Workers by being flexible with her schedule, coming in during her days off to assist with shift coverage as well as supervision coverage. She leads by example with patient care, following the tools put into place and ensures that she is giving the best quality of care she can provide by keeping her patients informed. She has been a great preceptor for many new employees through Med/Surg and ER and has ensured they receive a fulfilled orientation by meeting with these individuals and asking them how they best learn and following them to ensure they are learning the correct way. She is looked on as a mentor to her peers and they feel comfortable with the ability to go to her and ask a question or assistance when they aren’t quite 100% positive that they are correct with a certain process or procedure. She seeks out knowledge and enjoys helping others and her patients, all while consistently wearing a smile on her face! We are lucky to have this employee on our team!

Lindner expressed this about who has made the most difference in her career at FMCH, “I would like to recognize Lynn Lillie as a mentor. She has been a great Director and without her believing I could be a Surgical Nurse I would have never found my true passion in nursing. Teresa Clark has also been a wonderful mentor to me and I know I can always go to her for advice. My favorite part about working at FMCH is the atmosphere. We are a "family" and I enjoy coming to work every day.”

Lindner enjoys spending time with her husband Brett and two young children on their farm when not at work.
