Garman K. Vikturek, 96, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017 at his home. He was born on June 5, 1921 in Nora Springs, IA to Leonard & Mary Kouba Vikturek. He married Frances S. Ramage on February 14, 1944 in Austin, MN. He was a lifelong truck driver and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and was also a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a gunsmith for many years and enjoyed woodworking, boating, fishing, hunting and traveling.

Garman is survived by: his wife: Frances Vikturek of Fort Madison, IA; 1-son: Kenny (Shenda) Vikturek of Fort Madison, IA; 3-daughters: Sharon Morris of West Burlington, IA, Dianne (Don) Panek of New London, IA & Marie James of Garland, TX; 1-step grandson: Tyler Houseal; 3-granddaughters: Angie Raid Henkens, Andrea James McGinn & Rachel James Watson; 3-great grandchildren: Quentin, Tavin & Noelle and 1-sister: Delores Buttjer of Hampton, IA. He was preceded in death by: his parents, 2-brothers & 2-sisters.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017 with the funeral service to immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Lane Van officiating. Burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery with military rites performed by the Fort Madison Veterans Honor Guard. A memorial has been established in Garman’s memory.
