King-Lynk Obituary - William J. Schneider, 94, Fort Madison

William J. Schneider, 94, of Ft. Madison passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 1:55 AM at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant.
He was born on March 21, 1923 in Peoria, IL and was adopted by William and Anna Hoerr Schneider when he was nine months old. On January 26, 1952 he married Elinor Krehbiel in Ft. Madison. William was a shipping clerk at Sheaffer Pen Co. and retired after forty three years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. William served in the US Army during WWII, from 1942-1945 in the 1020 Engineer Battalion in central Europe and received a bronze star. He enjoyed traveling and photography. He was a former President of the Aquinas Band Parents and a charter member of the Aquinas Athletic Boosters.
Survivors include his wife, Elinor Schneider of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, David (Julie) Schneider of Mt. Pleasant and Donald (Gail Baldwin) Schneider of Davenport; three grandchildren, Ingrid Schneider, Elise Schneider and Megan Schneider. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Mitchell and Mary Ann O’Toole.
The funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will meet with friends from 1 PM until the time of the service at 2 PM. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery and military rites will be performed by the Ft. Madison Veterans Honor Guard.
