Betty Jean Dietzman, 94, of Burlington, formerly of Farmington, Iowa died at 10:03 A.M. Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Blair House Nursing and Rehab Center in Burlington, Iowa.
Born April 28, 1923 in Milton, Iowa, she was the daughter of Montie and Elsie (Miller) McQuoid. On February 18, 1945 she married Harold Dietzman in Keosauqua, Iowa. He died August 31, 1968.
In the 50’s they opened and co-owned the Farmington Tastee Freez. Mrs. Dietzman also worked and retired after 20 years from Sheaffer Pen Co. She graduated from Cantril High School and attended UNI.
She loved her family and nothing made her happier than her grand, great grand, and great, great grandchildren. She spent most of her life in Van Buren County, 58 years in Farmington.
She was a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Chapter O P.E.O., Eastern Star, and the Farmington Garden Club. She enjoyed a circle of friends in Farmington and made many new ones in Burlington. Her kindness will be remembered by all her life has touched.
Survivors include one daughter Sandra (Duane) Hendrichsen and one son Dennis (Dyan) Dietzman all of Burlington, Granddaughter Laura Hendrichsen, grandsons David (Lyndsey) Dietzman and Daniel Dietzman, great grandson Jonah Hendrichsen, great granddaughters Chloe Brueck and Ellie Dietzman, great great granddaughter Novalee Hendrichsen, sister Marilyn (Jim) Gillman, brother David (Darlene) McQuoid, sisters-in-law Mryna Dietzman and Betty McQuoid, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Harold, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law Beverly and Duane Williams, brother Marvin McQuoid and grandson Marty Hendrichsen.
Per Betty’s wishes, she has donated her body to the University of Iowa College of Medicine.
The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Michael Elrod officiating at the Farmington United Methodist Church in Farmington, Iowa.
Burial will be at a later date at Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua, Iowa.
Memorials have been established for the Farmington United Methodist Church, Farmington EMT’s, and Great River Hospice.
