FORT MADISON - Madison Mohrfeld was crowned the 2017 Sweet Corn Festival Queen in a rain-delayed ceremony Thursday night at the West Point Sweet Corn Festival. Madison is the daughter of Brian and Sara Mohrfeld and said her cousin won the crown and she looked up to her cousin as the queen so she wanted to run herself. Diamond Garcia was named the Sweet Corn Festival princess. She is the daughter of Ashley and Angel Garcia. Ashley said her daughter has been involved in dance and is pretty active so her stage fright at the contest was a bit unusual.

The Sweet Corn Festival runs throughout the weekend in West Point with carnival rides, entertainment, other activities, and all the sweet corn you can eat for free. For the full schedule of events visit www.pencitycurrent.com.
