FORT MADISON - A one-vehicle accident that occurred just after noon on Thursday took out a street signal at the corner of 20th Street and Avenue L.
A gray Ford Taurus collided with the pole and ended up in a resident's yard two houses to the east on the north side of Avenue L. No other information on the driver or condition were immediately available.
The vehicle came to rest with signal pole laying against the driver's side of the vehicle and the lamp housing crashed through the rear window.
City workers and emergency crews assess the damage to the base of a signal light at the intersection of 20th Street and Avenue L at about 12:20 p.m. after a gray Ford Taurus took out the pole in an accident minutes before. Photo by Chuck Vandenberg/PCC
