FM 8th graders start season with win

FAIRFIELD - The Fort Madison 8th grade football team started the season with a 6-0 shut out Tuesday in Fairfield.
Landes Williams scored the only touchdown of the game on a 76-yard run. He also completed 5-of-7passes for 63 yards. Tate Johnson had four of the receptions for 51 yards and Jacob McGowan hauled in one pass for 12 yards.
Williams led FMMS with 109 yards on six carries. Johnson and had seven rushes for 38 yards and Gavin Wiseman carried the ball five times for 17 yards.
Wiseman and McGowan led FM with six takes and Williams picked off two Fairfield passes to highlight the defensive efforts for FM.
Landes scored his touchdown in the 2nd quarter and helped seal the win with his second interception coming with under two minutes left in the game as Fairfield was inside the 20 looking to score.
Fort Madison will take on Central Lee Tuesday at home with 7th graders starting at 4:30 and the 8th grade game will follow.
