FMMS 8th graders move to 2-0

BY PCC STAFF FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison 8th grade football team shut out Central Lee on Monday night at home 46-0. Gavin Wiseman went 6 for 6 passing for 68 yards, a touchdown and a couple 2-point conversions to go along with 11 yards on the ground. He also recovered a fumble on defense. Tate Johnson led the Hounds on the ground with 32 yards on just four carries including a touchdown and a 2-point conversion run. Jacob McGowan also scored on the ground for FMMS. Landes Williams had three receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown. Williams also completed one pass for 30 yards and had 17 yards on the ground. Austin Ensminger had two catches for 16 yards and a 2-point conversion.
Defensively, Johnson, Matt Hopper and Abram Lorence all had interceptions. Cuyrin Ross recovered a fumble for FMMS.
"Our line made up of Hunter Edgar, Abram Lorence, Cassanova Maestro, Cuyrin Ross, Kaydence Wilson, and Tight End, Austin Ensminger, did a great job of giving our quarterback time to throw the ball and making nice holes for our backs to run through,' said head coach Ryan Smith.
The 7th grade team also won their game 26-20.
