Hounds sweep Keokuk to move to 4-0 in the loop

KEOKUK - The Fort Madison Bloodhounds finished off Keokuk in three games to highlight Southeast Conferencce volleyball action Tuesday night.

The Hounds dropped the chiefs 25-17, 25-11, 25-14. behind 31 assists from Leigh Johnson. She also served 6 of 7 and had a block.

Head Coach Kent Bailey said the girls weren't firing on cylinders but they're far enough along in the season to overcome a few off nights.

"We weren't as crisp tonight in all aspects of our game," Bailey said. "Give Keokuk credit they made some plays and had some momentum a couple times during the match."

Amber Dilsaver and Kaeli Hutson led the Hounds at the net with Dilsaver recording 12 kills and two blocks, but also went 13 of 14 at the service line with five aces. Huston had 11 kills and six digs, serving 7 of 7 with a couple aces.

Josie Pumphrey had 13 digs to lead the Hounds on defense and served a perfect 15 of 15 with five aces. Kamryn Bailey went 12 of 14 serving with 2 aces and Olivia Williams was 14 of 16 serving with four aces.

The Hounds move to 9-4 overall and 4-0 in the conference and play at the Holy Trinity tournament on Monday.

In the junior varsity match the Hounds lost the first match 21-25 but rebounded to take the 2nd 25-15 and won the tiebreaker 15-5.

The freshman squad downed Keokuk 25-17, 25-1.
