BY PCC STAFF BURLINGTON - A combined middle school football program in Burlington handed Fort Madison's 8th grade program it's first loss Tuesday night 34-0. Head Coach Ryan Smith said the FMMS found it tough getting things going offensively, but the game gave the 8th graders a chance to see where they were at for the year.
Landes Williams led the crimson and black in rushing with eight carries for 42 yards. Jakob McGowan carried eight times for 40 years. Tate Johnson rushed five times for seven yards.
Williams also had three completions for five yards and an interception.
Johnson and Wiliams had four and five tackles respectively. Johnson also has a fumble recovery.
"It was a great opportunity to see where we are at as a team, and we will definitely grow from this experience," Smith said.
The 7th grade team tied Burlington 6-6.
FMMS plays on Tuesday at home against Ottumwa at 4:30 .
