The Fort Madison Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks received a $1,500 grant from the Elks National Foundation in honor of the group's 150th Anniversary about two weeks ago. The local chapter donated $500 of the grant to the Lee County K9 Association to help fund the Lee County Sheriff's Department K9 program. Bob Britton, a member of the Fort Madison Elks said the the group plans to make an additional contribution to the group in the near future because they felt the K9 program was a welcome addition to the sheriff's department and will have a definite impact on the community.
