Fort Madison downs MEPO in four games

FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison Bloodhounds downed Mediapolis in four games Thursday night in girls high school volleyball action.

Mediapolis took the second game 25-21 after dropping a close first game to the Hounds 25-23. Fort Madison went on to easier wins in games three and four 25-14, 25-17.

Leigh Johnson set the Hounds front court all night with 34 assists on the night. She also went 10 of 11 serving with two aces and had five kills of her own.

Kamryn Bailey went 21 of 21 serving with five aces and had 20 digs from the back row. Josie Pumphrey was 19 of 19 serving with 23 digs. Amber Dilsaver was 30-37 hitting with 16 kills and was 13 of 13 from the service line with 2 aces. She also had six blocks for the Lady Hounds.

"Mediapolis did a good job the first two games of keeping us off balance and making us earn points," said head coach Kent Bailey. "In the third game we got on track by Josie and Kamryn getting us on two good serving runs to put us up 10-2, along with a couple of blocks by Amber. We continued that in the 4th game with Olivia going on a 7 point serving run to put us up 13-3. Our serving was on tonight as we went 92-95 and served 15 aces."

Kaeli Hutson was 23-28 hitting with eight kills, 13 digs and was 7 of 7 serving with two aces. Shyla Farmer was 17-of-18 hitting with six kills. McKenna Fehseke was 14 of 17 hitting five kills. Olivia Williams was 21 of 23 serving with one ace and she had 14 digs.

The Hounds are 17-5 on the season and undefeated in the Southeast Conference. They travel Tuesday to Fairfield.
