HTC girls knock off Notre Dame for 8th win in a row

FORT MADISON - The Holy Trinity Catholic Lady Crusaders are hitting their stride at the right time.

HTC's 7th-ranked volleyball team has won eight matches in a row including a three-set win over Burlington Notre-Dame Tuesday night at Shottenkirk Gymnasium, 25-12, 25-21, 25-12.

The last set the Crusaders lost was on Thursday when they knocked off 5th-ranked New London 3-1.

Junior Emily Box led HTC at the net hitting 38-40 with 26 kills on the night. She also had 16 digs to lead the Blue in that stat as well. Senior Maya Rashid had 34 assists and 14 digs for HTC. She was also a perfect 13 of 13 serving with three aces. Eryn Anderson was 16-17 at the net with eight kills.

Taylor Boeding was 24 of 29 attacking with six kills and had five aces on 10-of-10 serving. Elyse Pothitakis was 15-of-15 serving and Samantha Hoenig was 10 of 10 serving as well.

The Crusaders are 30-5 on the season and take part in the Mediapolis Tournament Thursday night with games beginning at 5 p.m. Regional play will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 17 with game sites to be announced.
