FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison Partners along with the Fort Madison Daily Democrat will be hosting a candidate forum on Wednesday, October 25th in the council chambers. The Forum is scheduled to begin at 5:30, ending no later than 7:00 pm.

A moderator will be asking questions and keep track of time, some of which will come from the hosting organizations and others from the audience. All candidates will have an opportunity to answer the questions as they pertain to that particular seat. For example, if a question is directed at the mayoral candidates only those two will answer, etc. As councilmen Rusty Andrews and Mark Lair are running unopposed, the focus may end up being on the Mayor and Second Ward race.

Fort Madison Partners Executive Director Tim Gobble said he is hoping to have the forum televised over the city web page, but that is still being worked out.

Gobble also said none of the candidates will receive questions prior to the forum. Audience members will have the opportunity to write their questions out upon arrival and have their questions asked, as time allows, but all questions will be evaluated and asked by the moderator during the forum’s scheduled time.

"We look forward to helping inform the general public on who is running and help them make an informed decision when it comes to voting for the leaders of our community," Gobble said.
