Barbara A. Kirchgassner, 83, of Wever, IA, passed away at 1:41 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Fort Madison. She was born on October 10, 1934 in Burlington, IA to Urban “Nick” & Wilma Walk Lange. She married Ed Nafziger on May 30, 1960 in Burlington, IA and they later divorced. She then married Dale Kirchgassner on August 18, 1971 in Oquawka, IL. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2013. She was a registered nurse first at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, then at Burlington Medical Center and in her later years, she was an industrial nurse at Exide Battery and Murry Turbo in Burlington. She was of the Lutheran Faith, an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed dancing with her husband, Dale. She enjoyed baking, attending grandchildrens events and hunting. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Nurses Association and the Red Cross.

Barb is survived by: 1-daughter: Kim (Joey) Herren of Wever, IA; 2-sons: Kirk Nafziger of Denmark, IA & Kris (Lisa) Nafziger of Wever, IA; 8-grandchildren: Nikki Herren, Dillon (Cassidy) Herren, Kori Nafziger, Kasie Nafziger, Kodee Nafziger, Kirklynn Nafziger, Mackenzie Nafziger & Maddi Nafziger; 1-brother: Charles (Jeanne) Lange of Aledo, IL; 1-nephew & 3-nieces. She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband & 2-brothers: Jack Walk & Urban Lange, Jr.

Cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Claypoole Cemetery with Rev. John Simpson officiating. A memorial has been established for P.A.W. Animal Shelter.
