Lady Hounds start season 0-2 with loss to Ottumwa

OTTUMWA - The Fort Madison Lady Bloodhounds dropped their second game on the road to open the season Tuesday night 46-19 to Ottumwa.

Senior Amber Dilsaver led the Hounds with 9 points as no FMHS player made it into double figures. The Hounds managed only four points in the first quarter and three in the third quarter as Ottumwa pulled away in the second quarter outscoring Fort Madison 18-6 to take a 26-10 halftime lead.

Sophomore Anna Kester had four points for the Hounds followed by senior Taylor Shannon with three. Braxton McGhghy added a bucket and Eleesha Estrada added a free throw to round out the scoring for Fort Madison.

Ottumwa's Mogan Greiner led all scorers with 12 points and Kasey Nickerson added 10.

The Hounds also dropped the season opener to Centerville 36-40 last Friday.

Kester fired in three 3-pointers enroute to a team-high 13 points. The Hounds held a 16-14 halftime lead but then were outscored 26-20 in the second half in the loss. Freshman Maddie Rashid scored eight points on 3 of 8 shooting from the field. Dilsaver had five points while McGhghy and sophomore Sara Bernhart each had four points. Senior Katie Larson added a bucket for the Hounds. Dilsaver had 11 rebounds in the game. Kester added five.

The ladies are 0-2 on the young season and host Keokuk on Friday night.
