Vicki J. Vermazen, 59, of Montrose, IA, died Monday, November 27, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

She was born on June 30, 1958 in Pomona, CA, the daughter of Marvin and Donna Robertson Dains. She graduated from Fort Madison High School with the Class of 1976.

VERMAZEN

On November 26, 1976, Vicki was united in marriage to Louis James Vermazen in Keokuk, IA. He survives.

She is also survived by two daughters, Laura Belville (Mike) of Wentzville, MO and Leann Svejda (Josh) of Keokuk, four grandchildren, Olyvia and Adelyn Belville, and Jonah and Levi Svejda, her mother, Donna Dains of Ft. Madison, two sisters, Janet Hissem (Keating) of Montrose, and Linda Hewett (John) of Ft. Madison, two brothers, Ron Dains (Susan) of Millbrook, AL and Doug Dains (Karrie) of Montrose.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She was currently employed at the University of Iowa as a Cancer Registrar. Prior to that she had been employed in Medical Records at Keokuk Area Hospital and Fort Madison Community Hospital.

Vicki was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Keokuk. She served on the church board and also led a Book Club with Wanda Carlson. She also had served as a 4-H Leader and volunteered with the DEC Hands program in Donnellson.

Vicki was a skilled seamstress who enjoyed sewing clothing for her children as well as curtains and other items for her home. She loved to read anything and everything. Vicki was a caring, loving woman who was devoted to her husband and children, supporting them in every endeavor. Her greatest joy was being a grandma and being able to love and care for her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday at the First Christian Church in Keokuk with Pastor David Turner officiating.

Visitation will be held after 1 p.m., Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with the family meeting with friends from 4 – 6 p.m.
