FORT MADISON - Fort Madison and other area fire departments are currently investigating a fire and chemical leak at Climax Molybdenum on Hwy 61 south. Due to Climax and Fort Madison fire officials currently working at the scene, no other details were readily available. Emergency crews were called out to the scene at around 2:30 p.m.

Montrose firefighters were also called to the scene for mutual aid.

A Fort Madison fire truck had extended its ladder on the south side of the building onto the roof above a lab area where occasional black smoke was seen coming from the roof. Firefighters were in full gear and were also investigating a possible chemical leak in the lab area.
