Gerald L. Stromberg, 81, of Ft. Madison passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at 11:25 AM at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital.

He was born on June 23, 1936 in St. Paul, MN to Selma Stromberg. On April 23, 1960 he married Carolyn Hjelle in Newfolden, MN. Gerald worked for Armour Dial and retired in June 1999 after thirty three years of service. He served in the US Marines during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Korea, Japan and Hawaii. Gerald loved tinkering on old cars. He enjoyed playing cards and was an active member of the Newberry Center. Gerald’s greatest love was spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Stromberg of Ft. Madison; three daughters, Roxanne (Jesse) Puga of Ft. Madison, Rhonda (Richard) Mueller of New London and Ronica (Lloyd) Kettelhake of Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren and two great granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Friends may call after 2 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at King-Lynk Funeral Home where the family will meet with friends from 4-6 PM. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM at King-Lynk Funeral Home on Friday, December 29, 2017 with Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Ft. Madison Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Soldiers’ Circle, Oakland Cemetery.
